microbet kerowo zikzak cuserounderMarksman Deuce Loden Pants goofyballer jmakin VoteForSocialists lapka I think we should give things another day or three and then have a binding vote on this. I'm going to propose that we need a supermajority of at least 8/11 and no hard blocks to move forward with any particular forum software. Should the Tech Committee recommend Discourse to the community for forum software and focus all future development efforts on that platform?Voting 'No' is not a hard block. Hard blocks must be explicitly stated in-thread. This poll closes Friday at 5:00 PM in whatever timezone this forum server is in.

Can we see who has voted in the poll? I just accidentally reclicked yes, and it removed my vote. Reclicking added it back. As always, who counts the votes is very important. I vote yes

My understanding is that mods can see who voted, but not what their vote was. jmakin is the mod of this subforum, but he's stepped aside from that duty. I'm actually not even sure if he still considers himself a committee member.
I'll just be thrilled if we can get 8 yes votes. And based on ATF talk today, this whole thing might be moot anyway. Can't say I'm super motivated to put in more work on this stuff aorn.

I can see votes. Loden Pants, your vote is in there. 1 vote is from a non-member of the committee, so as of the current count (8-0) it's actually 7-0.

There are clearly some committee members who are choosing not to be involved in anything. We should know who they are.

Based on Marksman's posts on the discourse site, maybe he's still undecided.

Deuce and Marksman haven't been on the site for ~21 hours. voteforsocialists has been away since the 9th and may be on vacation or something.

I've PM'ed the members who haven't cast a vote yet asking them to do so. As things stand, we are one vote short of the supermajority needed for passage and there is one 'no' vote. If none of the three non-voters cast a 'yes' or 'abstain' vote, the sole 'no' voter is effectively a blocking vote and this measure will fail.
To the person who voted 'no', is it something you feel that strongly about? If this does not pass we will be back to step 0 and have effectively accomplished nothing as a committee.

I was the no. I don't intend it as a blocking vote, but I am quite concerned that the community at large won't be comfortable with it and it could hurt us by keeping some people from moving over. As long as the community at large is told they really should go check it out and play with it before voting, I'll change my vote so I don't block it.
